Stillwater Board Approves Mechanicville Tax Exemption for Water Parcels

Town Board · Meeting of April 16, 2026

NY STILLWATER — Stillwater Town Board unanimously approves Mechanicville tax exemption for water parcels. The board unanimously approved a property tax exemption covering approximately $30,000 in annual revenue for water infrastructure parcels including Mechanicville's plant building, reservoirs, and watershed lands. Finance Commissioner Matthew Carmichael told the board that the landlocked city of less than one square mile faces significant financial challenges, including an 80 percent water rate increase over 18 months, and said the exemption would help support municipal grant applications.

The board also approved seven additional resolutions, including an ice cream concession license for Brown's Beach Pavilion, lot acceptance from Flintlock Development, a $41,000 pickup truck for Parks and Recreation, and departmental petty cash accounts.
